Academic camps high schoolers will love!
Green Mountain College has launched a series of academic camps high schoolers will love. GMC is the preeminent destination college for students who think rigorously and act sustainably– students with respect for the environment and for human communities.
Founded in 1834, today’s GMC builds on a long legacy of environmental leadership. The College sets the pace for thought leaders in liberal arts and for top practitioners in careers that contribute to the quality of life and well being in communities of many scales. GMC advances sustainability in the 21st century by integrating a deep understanding of complex natural and societal forces with personal and professional activities that promote positive outcomes.
In this one-on-one student centered environment, students feel empowered to take risks, try new things, and nurture and focus their passions in career-driven programs. And they graduate from GMC with the skills, knowledge, and leadership skills necessary to develop solutions to the planet’s most pressing challenges.
Experiential learning is central to a GMC education as well as the VSA programs’ academic camps high schoolers. Students are encouraged to gain hands-on experience through internships, service-learning opportunities and study abroad programs. Interdisciplinary block courses allow students to spend an entire semester working with professors from multiple disciplines on a single area of focus, often through field research, discussions with experts and a culminating project. Adventure programming and the Farm and Food Project provide additional hands-on learning opportunities that prepare students for careers in promising fields. With more than 20 different majors and The Killington School of Resort Management, GMC offers a diverse array of areas of study.
